Donor Sperm
An estimated 10% of couples experience infertility problems. Of those, up to 40% are due to cases of male factor infertility. In many of these instances, donor sperm is the means by which pregnancy is achieved. For a number of patients, using donor sperm for artificial insemination is an appropriate option. Other patients may need to use donor sperm with IVF, depending on their diagnosis. In addition to male factor issues, donor sperm may be used for same sex couples or single women.
DIRM’s Infertility team and IVF team will work closely with you to determine the best plan for you as you move forward using donor sperm. Known sperm donors will be required to undergo screening prior to use for insemination or ICSI. Although DIRM is not a sperm bank, we will assist you with selecting a sperm bank and a donor.
